Personal beginnings
Where the calling began.
Dana Wallace grew up in rural East Tennessee and knew from childhood that she wanted to become a physician. Her father had once hoped to pursue medicine himself, but financial circumstances prevented him from having that opportunity. On the family farm, however, she watched him draw on practical knowledge, careful observation, and resourcefulness to care for their livestock.
That early example helped shape her understanding of medicine as both science and service. It also gave her a lasting appreciation for careful listening, practical problem-solving, and the responsibility that comes with caring for others—qualities that have remained central throughout her career as a physician, educator, mentor, and professional leader.

“It is difficult for me not to use superlatives in every sentence when speaking of Dr. Dana Wallace. She is highly organized, efficient, and timeline-sensitive; leads by example and mentors those she leads; communicates effectively with individuals and groups; and is practical and realistic, yet innovative and forward-thinking. I have worked with her over decades in patient care, state professional organization activities, national specialty organization leadership, medical scholarship, and practice parameter development. Across these disparate arenas, Dr. Wallace is always the consummate professional, with exceptional interpersonal skills and foresight. She is a confident leader without the distraction of being egocentric. She has earned my trust and admiration.”
“During more than 35 years of working with Dr. Dana Wallace in national and international allergy/immunology organizations, I have come to know firsthand her exceptional qualities as both a team member and a leader.
I have always been impressed by her unique ability to combine a successful solo private practice with an eager commitment to advancing our specialty through professional societies and educational programs. She is a sought-after speaker in the United States and internationally on a wide variety of topics.
Her effectiveness as a team member and respected leader was especially evident during our work together with the ACAAI Board and subsequent presidents. She has an exceptional ability to bring people together and leads with vision, persuasion, hard work, and achievement. After I moved to Florida, I also witnessed her rebuild the Allergy Society of South Florida from the ground up and sustain its successful monthly dinner program, both scientifically and socially. She is a leader.”
“I have had the privilege of collaborating with Dr. Dana Wallace for many years, both as Past Presidents of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and in planning and leading the World Allergy Organization's World Allergy Training Schools (WATS) programming. Dr. Wallace excels in her leadership of WATS, bringing exceptional expertise and dedication to every aspect of the initiative.”
